Risk Disclosure
Last updated: June 13, 2026
Participating in Athlos tournaments and trading on third-party platforms involves significant risk, including the total loss of your entry fees and the funds you trade. Only participate with money you can afford to lose. Nothing on Athlos is financial advice.
01Athlos does not host trading
Athlos runs tournaments that track and score trading you do elsewhere, on third-party platforms such as Polymarket, under your own accounts and wallets. We never hold your trading funds, place trades for you, or guarantee any trading outcome. Risks inherent to those platforms — including their availability, rules, settlement decisions, and solvency — are entirely between you and them.
02Trading and market risk
- Prediction markets and other event-based markets are volatile and can move suddenly. You can lose your entire position.
- Past tournament results, leaderboard standings, and win rates are not indicative of future performance — yours or anyone else's.
- Markets you trade may be thin or illiquid; entering or exiting positions at expected prices is not guaranteed.
- Market resolution depends on the third-party platform and its oracles, not on Athlos.
03Cryptocurrency risk
- Entry fees and prizes are denominated and paid in cryptocurrency, whose value can change rapidly, including to zero.
- On-chain transactions are irreversible. Funds sent to a wrong address, or a payout wallet you entered incorrectly, cannot be recovered.
- You are solely responsible for the security of your wallets and private keys. Anyone with your keys controls your funds.
- Blockchain networks can experience congestion, forks, or outages that delay or prevent transactions.
04Tournament and scoring risk
- Scoring depends on market data and trade data from external sources. Outages, delays, or errors in those feeds can affect rounds, scores, and standings.
- Rounds or tournaments may be voided, postponed, or cancelled when data integrity cannot be assured. Where a tournament is cancelled, entry fees are refunded as described in the Terms of Service.
- Entry fees are non-refundable once a tournament has started, except where the tournament rules or Terms say otherwise.
- Prize values are denominated in cryptocurrency and fluctuate with the market until and after payout.
05Legal and regulatory risk
- The legal treatment of prediction markets, skill-based competitions, and cryptocurrencies varies by jurisdiction and continues to evolve.
- It is your responsibility to confirm that using Athlos and trading on third-party platforms is lawful where you live, and to comply with platform access restrictions.
- You are responsible for any taxes arising from prizes or trading profits.
